Reform School

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

I would consider my style, as in decorating, pretty eclectic (hope to post images from my apartment soon). I love white walls with pops of color. I am also very inspired by anything Anthropologie. Here are some items that I fancy, in relation to my style, from the adorable online site Reform School .

Playing Nostalgia

Monday, April 26, 2010

This weekend I enjoyed sun, sun, and more sun. That's right, the past 2.5 days were spent enjoying the outdoors and this lovely weather we're currently having in the Big D. I spent most of time taking in the fresh air on restaurant patios and poolside, but one thing I enjoyed most was reliving my childhood days and playing board games. Monopoly (my team won!) and Othello.

There's a lot of cool, new games out there, but I've always been partial to the originals.
Did you know that Monopoly is the best-selling board game in the world sold in 103 countries?

Othello, originally called Reversi, was given its name in reference to the Shakespearian piece Othello and the conflict between the two characters, one being black (Othello) and one being white (Desdemona).

What's your favorite board game and fun fact about it?

I love you, but...

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I found this hilarious website (via A Cup of Jo) that posts the "I love you, but..." scenarios in people's relationships. This one cracks me up because I AM a ginger! Which one can you relate to?

Bring on the Green

Earth Day is coming up... Thursday, April 22nd. While I wouldn't consider myself the "green" bee, I do my best to conserve in ways that I can. Here are a few things to look forward to on Earth Day:

* DisneyNature's film "Oceans" opens in theaters
* OrangeCup is offering those that wear green a Love One Get One (free) offer
* Mockingbird Station has its inaugural "Green Carpet Dallas" event with Farmer's Market and other activities
* EarthFest in Downtown Dallas
* Cup'pa joe for free at Starbucks when you bring in your own travel mug

Remember to wear green!

The Prepared Camper

Friday, April 16, 2010

How many of you love camping out there? Well I do and I am thankful for parents that allowed me to experience it as a child. I've done 'em all— tent, camper, and motor home. Though the latter two were comfortable and fun, nothing beats the fresh air and nature experience of camping in the great outdoors. I do prefer the coverage of a tent though.

How I got the idea for this post:: Daily Candy recently published a list of What to Pack items for the Coachella Music Festival (must-read for any fest). While this "camping" experience is a little different, and more fashion-forward, it gave me the idea to come up with a list of things for my next camping trip. I hope they will be helpful to you! Here we go...

Dwell with Dignity

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Wanted to take a moment to introduce you to a fascinating organization called Dwell with Dignity. You might have heard of them through top news outlets such as DailyCandy, Dallas News and DMagazine's Best of 2010.

Do you believe that you can simply be inspired to better your life through great design? Well, these gals do. Founder & President, Lisa Robison, and Executive Director, Kim Turner, both highly skilled with years of experience in the design industry, are using their talents for charitable purposes. The mission of the organization is to "help families escape poverty and homelessness through design. One household at a time."

Dwell with Dignity teams up with local transitional housing organizations, such as Interfaith Housing Coalition, to accomplish their mission.

Through the support of designers, artists, and volunteers, Dwell with Dignity is on the rise... for a purpose. You're gonna wanna keep your eyes on this one.

Check out the beautiful apartment they fixed up for their latest installation... lucky dwellers!
